Becoming a Member
Anyone can become a member of OCTA. You don't have to have an animal, and you don't have to be a Certified Pet Partner. For details e-mail us at octa@peak.org.
To become a member, just complete the Membership Application form, enclosing your check and mail to OCTA. Upon acceptance we will send you a New Membership Packet of information.
We offer four categories of membership. Each is renewable annually:
- Individual - $25 Adult with or without an animal partner.
- Family/Household - $35 Two or more individuals living in the same household.
- Youth/Student - $10 Children aged 10-18 years not included in a family membership.
- Scholarship - $10 Individual financially unable to meet regular membership requirement (staff approval required).
Benefits Offered to Members
OCTA membership will help ensure your success as a Pet Partner in several ways:
- Getting help with locating a facility appropriate to the skills and interests of you and your animal.
- Knowing that the facilities you work in are safe and meet the standards required by OCTA.
- Receiving continuing education for all members, including topics relating to animal behavior and training, bedside visiting, wheelchair approaches, applicable terminology, specific population training, etc.
- Being able to participate in service events held at human service facilities.
- Being able to participate in facility-sponsored events.
- Meeting others who share your love of animals and interest in helping others.
